"Caps that cover their eyes"

“These malevolent miniature Mogwai are the most destructive and reflect negative African-American stereotypes. Soon after their unexpected birth, the pesky gremlins are devouring fried chicken with their hands… In some unexplained way, several of them have managed to acquire shades and caps that cover their eyes. Cigarettes droop from the corners of their mouths. They make haste to a tavern where they cannot get enough to drink. Here we see their love of music and their ability to break-dance.”

Patricia A. Turner accuses the film Gremlins of racial stereotyping, 1994.

It sounds like Patricia A. Turner is doing a spot of racial steryotyping herself.

Patricia is reading far too much into the film. It is similar to the way that people thought the teletubbies were promoting homosexuality with one of the characters. Also the film ‘Happy Feet’ was accused of being extreme in it’s left wing messages! These people have too much time on their hands.

Their love of music and their ability to break-dance? If you’ve seen Gremlins it’s a wonderfully absurd paragraph, but to be fair on Turner I haven’t read this in context.

Is that there is no one good with the surname Turner or there is no one god with the surname Turner? I have to tweak my argument based on your reply.
