Supermarket 2006

Doubt is seeded paired halved divided
Fear doubled up and fear folded in
With shim sham pride and the grin on my face
In the market shim sham where i shop in distaste
Pressed out like blazers and hung on your hooks
the yoghurt coat sins and the would-you-not goods
like the Easter eyes like the croans of the stalk
the swaddling prize the sterilized fork
the grins of the morning the kisses of night
the crust of commotion the place and the pike
the knife of your sternum the spoon of delight
the salad of promise the lattice of light
the dark maths of skin and abhorred lines of age
the warmth and distress of commercial exchange
I’m crazy for loving I’m crazy for jazz
I’m crazy in somebody’s motorized bath
I’m dry tears on wood and plastic of trees
I’m crying my eyes and I’m crying for three
The right to exchange all the bone in your teeth
For camel hump pancakes and kiss-me-not knees
And unbroken heartache and unfrozen peas
And unbridled visions of unified scenes
In this shim sham parade I decode with distaste
You’re the serpent that sings from the green apple paste
