The Poet Rumsfeld

“As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don’t know we don’t know.”

(Extract from a briefing for the United States DoD Feb 12th 2002 by Secretary General Donald Rumsfeld)

On the happy subject of the Bush administration, I have further news of Dubya’s forthcoming visit and the big unwelcome party being planned. The 19th, 20th and 21st will be three days of protests, with a national demonstration on the 20th, starting at 2pm in Central London and culminating in Trafalgar Square where a specially-constructed statue of Bush will be symbolically toppled. Raay! As you can imagine, the police presence will be absolutely huge, and apparently American secret services have been given a certain amount of jurisdiction to operate in London during the visit. Early estimates say between 60 and 100 thousand will come out on the streets to demonstrate. And judging from the sheer amount of people who this man has offended since he cheated himself into the White House, I’d guess the numbers might be even more than that. So come along. It’ll be fun.
